The Swensen Fellows in Strategic Analysis program was established in 2015. The fellowship has a dual mission, as described below:
- The fellowship is intended to build a sophisticated, internal consulting group within the university that helps Yale tackle its most complex, strategic challenges. Through their strategic analysis, the Swensen Fellows help University leaders make data-driven decisions that advance Yale’s mission.
- We believe the world needs more talented and dedicated analytically-minded leaders, so we envision the fellowship as a training ground for leadership at Yale and beyond. Beyond the initial fellowship, we expect Fellows to assume leadership roles across the University, in other higher education institutions, or in other organizations.
Fellows work in the Office of Strategic Analysis. The group reports to the Provost, Scott Strobel, and benefits from the support and frequent engagement of many other University leaders.
Our work spans the campus, from Science Hill to the Medical School, from the College and Graduate School to the Professional Schools. We address a broad spectrum of topics including: setting priorities, improving performance, and allocating resources across the units that comprise Yale. The decisions we support have a decisive impact on the future of Yale.
